Hey Everyone,
Quick little update after a couple of months! Again not a huge change in production with this one. Really taking my time and not spending much of each week on this project so far. I have a couple of other projects in the pipeline so this is an environment I kind of go to when I want to relax and work on something freely.
A lot of the time with this has been pushing Unreal Engine 5's new lighting and figuring out how to use it all together. Getting the raytracing to work alongside of the lighting and translucency is a lot harder than I thought it would be but it certainly has been a fun challenge a long the way. Plenty of nights where I redo the lighting though and then step back and decide to delete it all because its not working and I've gone too far with all of my setting adjustments.
The kitchen has a little bit more form in it and the exterior has some additional blockout. The exterior probably wont be a part of the playable space but I find 3d vistas to work out much better than trying to fake things with just pictures or simple cards of an exterior environment.
I believe my favorite addition is the adding of the skylights. It was a little bit of a back and forth with trying to figure out the shapes that were up there and the main problem was the lighting just casting a lot of shapes in the environment and making it super noisy. Appreciate Max Frorer for the feedback on some of the lighting during this process!
Hopefully next update will have a little more to it but that's about it for now.
Thanks for checking it out!
