Industrial Design (UE5 Environment Update)

Work In Progress / 14 June 2021

Hey everyone,

It has been a bit since I posted anything about this environment and its overall progress. Have been a bit busy lately so its been a bit slow but decided to make the jump with this environment and bring it into Unreal Engine 5. Although it is still in early access, I found that UE5 was stable enough that everything I was doing so far wouldn't be affected and I could play around with some of the new lighting features offered with Lumen.

Another big change that you will find that I did below, was to expand the apartment type setup into more of a home look. I doubled the width of the space and decided to add a small side courtyard with a green feature wall to bring some more of nature into the space and compliment some of the other earth tones and materials. I really like the direction that this new blockout is going in and I think my biggest problem previously was that the small confined space of the apartment layout was creating lighting issues that I wasn't enjoying. I really wanted to play a lot more with natural lighting and having that really fill the space and I think tripling the amount of windows really has pushed it more towards the direction that I am wanting.

Everything is still in a blockout sort of phase as I continue to figure out the space overall and how I really want everything laid out. However I wanted to still update this thread and show the pretty large transitions with both the move over to UE5 as well as the redesign of the entire layout!

Thanks for taking a look!
